Promising HepC Treatment
Millions of Americans have Hepatitis C, and may not even know it until they get a blood test or have a medical issue. A promising new drug, simeprevir, is said to cure 80% of patients who had previously not been treated for the disease. While many cases have been related to blood transfusions, IV drug use, and poorly sterilized medical equipment (including tattoo needles) the effects of HCV can lead to liver cancer, failure of the liver, and cirrhosis.
Hepatitis C is a common disease that does not get the same publicity as some other liver disorders, but is still serious and may cause severe health issues down the road.
Several treatments for Hepatitis C have been used over time including a combination of ribavirin and peginterferon.
Simeprevir Side Effects
